BAMBOO DECKING

B1 Fire Rated Decking

Bamboo Elegance is a truly luxury decking material. This high quality, ultra-hard bamboo fibre decking is aimed at the premium domestic and commercial markets.

Bamboo has a superior resistance to weathering, is highly resistant to water absorption, and has a fire resistance of Euroclass B1 Fire – Bf1-s1 (DIN EN 13501-1:2010).

It has a special surface coating creating a rare, rich, more natural appearance than standard thermo bamboo decking with high performance and a greater resistance to staining.

Bamboo Elegance is manufactured with a patented heat treatment which produces a high density decking board. It has high levels of dimensional stability with superior UV resistance and carries a 25-year performance warranty.

Why is Bamboo Elegance so good?

Bamboo Elegance is a premium quality, ultra-hard compressed bamboo fibre decking material with long-term durability. It has an attractive, aged grey appearance and superior UV resistance.

Ultra-luxurious finish

Bamboo Elegance boasts impressive performance properties, providing a luxury experience. A patented heat treatment is used during manufacture to produce the natural, aged finish with high resistance to staining and UV fading.

Most sustainable decking available

From cradle to gate, the environmental impact of Bamboo Elegance is minimal. Read the EPD for more information.

Low maintenance

No harsh chemicals are required, and the stability and weatherproof properties ensure minimal maintenance is required year-on-year.

Hardwearing thermo bamboo

The fibres are steamed, removing moisture and sugars. This removes bacteria and fungi in the fibres, making it drier and more rot-proof than tropical hardwoods. The boards are pressed and glued under high pressure to create a dense, durable board, making it suitable for high-traffic areas with resistance to weathering and fading.

15 Year Performance Warranty

The patented heat treatment produces a high density decking board, with high levels of dimensional stability with superior UV resistance and carries a 15-year performance warranty.

Moisture and Mould Resistant

Bamboo Elegance is highly resistant to water absorption, and becomes harder than tropical hardwoods through the thermo process, where the fibres are steamed to remove the moisture and sugars, which in turn draws out any bacteria and fungi activity.

Why is Bamboo sustainable?

Bamboo is a fast growing grass, not a wood as many believe. The stems are not cut down but shorn down to the roots. Therefore, the bamboo remains alive and can grow back very quickly immediately after harvesting. Bamboo roots are not ripped out of the ground when the bamboo is harvested this leaves the topsoil in place on the forest floor and wildlife it supports is less disturbed. Bamboo can easily grow up to 1 metre per day, fully replenishing a harvested area extremely quickly.

Wallbarn Bamboo is covered by EPD, the Environmental Product Declaration (in accordance with EN 15804) which is an environmental impact assessment for products over their entire lifecycle, including transport through to installation on site and End of Life.

Bamboo is also rated as CO₂ neutral. What does this mean? The natural cycle of plants is that they absorb CO₂ during their lifetime and release it back into the atmosphere when they die. By harvesting and processing the bamboo we are able to lock the CO₂ into the material for its entire lifecycle / recycle. It has been estimated that as much as 1.662 tonnes of CO₂ is contained in each cubic metre of harvested bamboo. Since the plant is not destroyed but simply cropped, new shoots will grow almost immediately, restarting the carbon capture process in the forest. Studies have shown that bamboo captures more CO₂ than almost all wood species .

Eco-Friendly

Bamboo is a sustainable, eco-friendly material, absorbing CO₂ during its lifetime and releasing it back into the atmosphere when harvested. We consider the impact over the entire lifecycle, including transport to installation on site and end of life.

High Durability

The bamboo fibres are pressed and glued under heavy pressure to create a dense, durable, stable decking board with a gravity of 1,200kg/m3. Bamboo Elegance is weatherproof, fade-proof, and designed for high-traffic areas.

Hidden Fixtures

Bamboo Elegance can be fixed in a number of ways with composite or aluminium joists. The bamboo deck boards can be fixed using the iFly hidden clips.

Special Surface Coating

Bamboo Elegance has a premium luxe finish with its special surface coating, for more natural results compared to composite decking and standard thermo bamboo decking. Bamboo Elegance has high performance properties and greater resisstance to staining, making it suitable for domestic and commercial use.

Bamboo Decking Maintenance

Bamboo Elegance is an ultra-hard, highly durable, and sustainable decking solution. Its resistance to moisture and insects makes it ideal for outdoor use, while its Class B1 fire rating enhances safety. The decking is crafted through a high-pressure compression process, binding bamboo strands with a phenolic resin compound, resulting in a stable, knot-free board that resists bending, splitting, twisting, and swelling.

Suitable for residential and commercial applications, Bamboo Elegance performs well in high-traffic areas and can also be used for cladding. The decking requires minimal upkeep—routine cleaning with a mild detergent and warm water is sufficient. Occasional application of a light oil can enhance smoothness and reduce staining from wine, food, or rainwater. Maintenance should be performed in dry weather between 10°C and 25°C.

Care Recommendations:

  • Avoid Jet Washing: High-pressure cleaning can damage the finish and cause discolouration.
  • Furniture Protection: Use pads or coasters under furniture legs to prevent scratches and regularly reposition items for even weathering.
  • Planter Placement: To prevent staining from soil and fertiliser, elevate pots using plant stands or Wallbarn 7mm PVC pads for proper airflow.

Cleaning Guidelines:
Use soft brooms, mops, rollers, rubber squeegees, cloths, and sponges. Avoid harsh chemicals to preserve the finish. Minor surface cracks and slight board curling are natural characteristics and do not indicate defects.

For a long-lasting, elegant deck, follow these simple care and maintenance practices.
